Welcome to Laughing Cat Creative!
We are a full service film and video production house serving the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Our studio is fully portable, and we love filming at our clients’ favourite locations. We specialize in fictional and factual story-driven content creation for online, mobile, tablet and broadcast markets.
When you work with us, you work with people who understand the value of communication, storytelling, and connection. The value of experience and expertise. In being seen and heard. Most importantly, the value of your time and money when you invest in video creation.
Our work in the film and television industry has taught us what successful productions need, at every size and budget. We know what it takes to create exceptional, engaging video content: branded marketing campaigns to help you connect with your audience, crowdfunding videos to get your new venture funded, and even seeing feature films from concept stage to sold-out premiere screening.
We excel at telling stories in our clients’ unique voices: showcasing you at your best and inspiring your audience to respond.
We’re so glad you found your way to us.
We bring your authentic voice to light. We advise you at the beginning how best to hone your concept, and help you craft a powerful script.
And Audio. And Lighting. And Hair & Makeup. Actors. Permits. Snacks. Project Plans. We source and bring everything your unique project needs.
We create videos that drive results: engaged customers, successful crowdfunding campaigns, exciting live events, and completed creative film projects.
We offer full-package or a la carte film and video production services covering everything from pre- to post- production.
Our experience in working with scripts from all genres and forms ensures that the feedback you receive will keep your work true to structure and subject matter while retaining your voice and ideas. For those who are starting out, we offer services in research, fact- checking, adaptation from original works, and (ghost)writing your first draft.
Our connections to all of the major casting sites and top Toronto talent allow us to find the best people for your project, taking the legwork off your plate. We have cast feature and short films, webseries, and commercial projects. Starting from crafting the initial casting call, to collecting submissions and sharing top picks for you to review, we make finding on-camera or voiceover talent effortless.
We work with you to successfully complete your projects on time and on budget. From pre- to post- production, we take care of it all: paperwork, scheduling, filming, craft services, even finding locations and offering support wherever you need it. With our film and video production services, you will know that your logistics are in good hands, leaving you less stressed and free to focus on other aspects of your project.
Much of the work of bringing your video project to life happens during editing. We work with you to understand your overall vision, and can help guide you through what to keep and what to cut. With professional audio and video software, your end results always look and sound polished and professional. You’ll save time and frustration by not having to continuously micro- manage the editing process to get it right.
Emily directed, shot, edited and produced a crowdfunding video for my organization, Women in Toronto Politics, and did an incredible job of shepherding the project from concept to launch (we surpassed our crowdfunding target, by the way). During the concept phase, one thing that really stood out was her ability to recommend less costly and/or logistically challenging ways to stage a particular scene or get a point across. This made the shoot run more smoothly and saved us a lot of headaches. She was also amazing at letting our organization's own voice shine through, while filling in the blanks in our understanding of what will translate into a good video. Her work was promptly delivered and of excellent quality. She also subcontracted a great makeup artist and actor, both of whom did awesome jobs for fantastic rates. We love Emily and highly recommend Laughing Cat Creative!
You provided invaluable assistance during the casting process, both arranging the sessions and aiding in final casting decisions. Your organizational skills were a great asset when it came time to arrange the shooting schedule and juggle the time constraints of many actors. Your ability to coordinate with both cast and crew aided in the smooth function of the entire team. You bring the same level of professionalism to any project, no matter the size or scope. Your ability to perform needed tasks on time is a great asset to any production and I wholeheartedly recommend you.
You are very professional AND fun to work with! You went above and beyond for my shoot.
Not only was your feedback quick and thorough, you identified every potential problem I’d already considered, and a bunch I’d never noticed. You have a gift for understanding scripts at a deep and intelligent level, both for coherence and emotional impact.
You were instrumental in the success of our first large-scale project for the Toronto Fringe Festival. Help at every stage of the creative process – from scriptwriting to launching our marketing campaign – benefited greatly from your many years of experience in the business. We were also fortunate to have our production filmed by you, and the results were breathtakingly beautiful. We’d recommend you to any company, big or small, that wants to take their work to the next level. Our heartfelt thanks go out to you for giving us the boost we needed!
We were grateful to have Emily Schooley, a talented and creative videographer who captured stories for the Annual Unifor Women’s Conference in Port Elgin, Ontario on film. It really makes a difference when you have someone behind the camera who understands what you are trying to capture and also cares about what the storyteller is trying to convey. Emily has a real knack for making people, particularly those who have absolutely no experience in front of a camera, feel like they can open up. In addition to capturing the stories on film, she created a closing video for our conference under a tight time crunch. The result was awesome.
Ready to get lights, camera, awesome? We’d love to hear from you.
