Welcome to Laughing Cat Creative!

We are a full service film and video production house serving the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Our studio is fully portable, and we love filming at our clients’ favourite locations. We specialize in fictional and factual story-driven content creation for online, mobile, tablet and broadcast markets.

Development

Our experience in working with scripts from all genres and forms ensures that the feedback you receive will keep your work true to structure and subject matter while retaining your voice and ideas. For those who are starting out, we offer services in research, fact- checking, adaptation from original works, and (ghost)writing your first draft.

Casting

Our connections to all of the major casting sites and top Toronto talent allow us to find the best people for your project, taking the legwork off your plate. We have cast feature and short films, webseries, and commercial projects. Starting from crafting the initial casting call, to collecting submissions and sharing top picks for you to review, we make finding on-camera or voiceover talent effortless.

Production

We work with you to successfully complete your projects on time and on budget. From pre- to post- production, we take care of it all: paperwork, scheduling, filming, craft services, even finding locations and offering support wherever you need it. With our film and video production services, you will know that your logistics are in good hands, leaving you less stressed and free to focus on other aspects of your project.

Editing

Much of the work of bringing your video project to life happens during editing. We work with you to understand your overall vision, and can help guide you through what to keep and what to cut. With professional audio and video software, your end results always look and sound polished and professional. You’ll save time and frustration by not having to continuously micro- manage the editing process to get it right.

Emily directed, shot, edited and produced a crowdfunding video for my organization, Women in Toronto Politics, and did an incredible job of shepherding the project from concept to launch (we surpassed our crowdfunding target, by the way). During the concept phase, one thing that really stood out was her ability to recommend less costly and/or logistically challenging ways to stage a particular scene or get a point across. This made the shoot run more smoothly and saved us a lot of headaches. We were grateful to have Emily Schooley, a talented and creative videographer who captured stories for the Annual Unifor Women’s Conference in Port Elgin, Ontario on film. It really makes a difference when you have someone behind the camera who understands what you are trying to capture and also cares about what the storyteller is trying to convey. Emily has a real knack for making people, particularly those who have absolutely no experience in front of a camera, feel like they can open up.
